Since graduating from Mount Royal College in 1994 with a journalism diploma in hand, I have written and edited tons of content for print and web. I had a 10-year career at the Calgary Sun as writer/editor in its “Homes” and “Special Sections” divisions and then went out on my own in 2004 to start my freelance writing/editing career.

It’s been a great ride. Below is just a sampling of some of the projects Spilt Ink Productions has done and/or continues to work at.

Citizen Pet Magazine

For just over 10 years, March 2005 to June 2016, I published Citizen Pet magazine. It began as a magazine to celebrate life with our small animal companions and then I expanded the editorial in 2013 to include horses. Below are three of my favourite Citizen Pet issues.

The June 2016 issue was the last print issue. We are working on a new pet-related blog called Pint-Sized Pooch, which we plan to launch in late 2018.  At Spilt Ink, we love small dogs and the new blog will celebrate our small, furry friends and help you best care for your pint-sized companion. We love kitties too, so the blog will also include info on our feline friends.

Farm Forum

I am the current editor of Farm Forum, a supplier publication for Bayer CropScience. Each issue, farmers from across Canada can read about the latest in farm technology, business, production and farm life. And in Farm Forum’s CropTalk section, Bayer provides detailed information about its products and services to help growers make the most of their farming operations.

In late 2015, Kali’s Wish Cancer Foundation launched its new website. During the first half of 2016 I was kept very busy writing all the content for the new site. Please visit and check out the stories under the “Info Hub” tab posted in 2016.

Pet Planet’s Guardian Health Manual

gaurdian-health-manualDuring 2014, I wrote all the content for Pet Planet’s Guardian Health Manual. It contains tons of great information about how to best care for your pets. Pet Planet is a wonderful specialty pet supply franchise that is dedicated to helping your pets live long and happy lives.

Pet Planet stores are conveniently located in neighbourhood shopping centres and offer a great selection of exceptional products and services for your furry family member. Take a look inside the Guardian Health Manual here.

Brochure sample

Sherry Warner of Spilt Ink Productions did an excellent job of editing/updating my Health Coaching brochure. I gave Sherry a copy of the existing brochure, the basic setup of the brochure and text I had written as edits, along with specific information she asked for.

My niche market is quite specific and Sherry took the time to research and fully understand my business and my target market before doing the editing on the brochure. I am super pleased with her approach, all her editing and the fabulous results!

I highly recommend Sherry for any copywriting and/or editing of marketing materials. I know that I will be calling Sherry again next time I need marketing materials written and/or edited. Thank you Sherry!”
